Electromagnetic Radiation (EMF) Notable Research Publications
Below is a summary of scientific research studies and EMF publications showing the adverse health effects of Electromagnetic Radiation (EMF) on the human body. We also list studies showing the increase in use of electronic devices. For more details on studies showing links to various effects, go to our Scientific Studies page.

EMF Research: IARC Classifies Radio Frequency Electromagnetic Fields as Possibly Carcinogenic to Humans (PDF)
The WHO/International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B), based on an increased risk for glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer, associated with
wireless phone use. Read more about their EMF research. Download

Guidelines for Limiting Exposure to Electric Fields (PDF)
For over 50 years, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) has been studying and treating the effects of the environment on human health. In the last 20 years, our physicians began seeing patients who reported that electric power lines, televisions and other electrical devices caused a wide variety of symptoms. By the mid 1990's, it became clear that patients were adversely affected by electromagnetic fields and becoming more electrically sensitive. In the last five years with the advent of wireless devices, there has been a massive increase in radiofrequency (RF) exposure from wireless devices as well as reports of hypersensitivity and diseases related to electromagnetic field and RF exposure. Multiple EMF research studies correlate RF exposure with diseases such as cancer, neurological disease, reproductive disorders, immune dysfunction, and electromagnetic hypersensitivity.Download
2012 BioInitiave Report
2012 BioInitiave Report: A Rationale for a Biologically-based Public Exposure Standard for Electromagnetic Fields (ELF and RF)
A new report by the BioInitiative Working Group 2012 claims evidence from EMF research pointing to EMF and wireless technology (radiofrequency radiation) health risk has increased substantially since 2007. Over 1800 new scientific studies are reviewed in the report. Cell phone users, pregnant women, parents-to-be, and young children are at particular risk.

National Toxicology Program (NTP) Study
National Toxicology Program Cell Phone Radiation Study
The National Toxicology Program (NTP) conducted a two-year toxicology study on rats and mice to help clarify potential health hazards, including cancer risk, from exposure to RFR like that used in 2G and 3G cell phones. Researchers found higher rates of glioma (brain tumor) and malignant schwannona (a rare heart tumor) in rats that were exposed to RF radiation. These were published as Technical Reports in November 2018.Read more…
